The slots are one of the most favored games to gamble on at casinos. On any given night, count on most of the slot machines to be filled with enthusiastic players. They appear in a multitude of playing levels; a few just cost five cents a play and others can cost as much as twenty dollars a play. Although slot games are a gambling tool, a number of people are afraid of the big money card tables and like the entertainment and excitement of a good slot machine game.

The first mechanical slot machine was created in Eighteen Ninety Five and was called the "Liberty Bell." Created by a California auto mechanic, the first slot machines had three spinning reels with diamonds, hearts, spades and a cracked Liberty Bell on each. Before this invention, the phrase "slot machines" was employed to characterize various kinds of vending machines.

The initial widespread use of one armed bandits in American betting houses is credited to the Flamingo Hotel, Sin City somewhere around 1940. The head of the casino had initially thought the machines would be awesome to captivate tired wives of some of the biggest whales of the brick and mortar casino. Little did he know that the slots would be an exciting game for nearly everyone and that the appeal would extend further than the bored wives. Today, it is said, the slots make up over 2/3rds of all income brought in by American casinos.

The slots certainly have a full history. From the small creation of the mid-1800’s to the million dollar sector of today, slots will continue to develop in prominence.
